International 505 Class

2007/2008 East Coast  Championship

1.0                                                                                     RULES

 

The Championship will be governed by the 2005 - 2008ISAF Racing Rules of Sailing, the Prescriptions and Special Regulations of the AYF, the rules of the International 505 Class, (except as any of these are changed by the Sailing Instructions) and by the Sailing Instructions.

 

2.0               ADVERTISING

The Regatta is classified as a Category C Event in accordance with Rule 79 Appendix I and the Prescriptions of AYF Addendum F. Attention of entrants is drawn to addendum F, AF4 and the responsibility for those yachts choosing to display advertising to comply to the AYF Advertising Licence System

 

3.0        ALTERATION OF RACING RULES

            The Racing Rules of Sailing will be altered as follows:

 

3.1               RRS26 and 30 by Sailing Instruction 8, The International 505 Class gate start system may be used for starting.

 

3.2               RRS35 by Sailing Instruction 14, Imposition of a time limit of 20 minutes after the first yacht finishes.

 

4.0        ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY

4.1        The regatta is open to boats of the International 505 Class that meet the following requirements.

 

4.1.1          Each Entrant and Crew shall be a financial member of a Club affiliated with their respective state Yachting Association or National Body. Attention of entrants is drawn to Rule 46 and AYF Prescriptions thereto.

 

4.1.2          Each Entrant and Crew shall be a financial member of the appropriate Fleet, National or International 505 Class Association.

 

4.1.3          Each yacht shall hold and lodge copy with the Organising Authority a current and valid International 505 Class Measurement Certificate.

 

4.1.4          Each yacht shall lodge evidence of personal risk cover of no less than $10,000,000 by way of a certificate of currency or policy document copy.

 

4.1.5          Eligible boats may enter on the attached Entry Form which shall be lodged at the club on Saturday morning 13th October 2007.

 

 

 

5.0        FEES

5.1               Required entry for the Regatta is $50 (GST Exempt).

7.0               MEASUREMENT

7.1        Each yacht shall submit a current and valid International 505 Class Measurement Certificate.

 

7.2               Each yacht shall carry the following safety equipment:

            7.2.1     A paddle minimum length 750mm capable of propelling the yacht.

7.2.2          A tow line minimum 10 metre length and 6mm diameter.

 

7.3        Each crew shall wear at all times while afloat and make available for inspection Personal Flotation devices to Australian Standard AS1512, AS2260 or AS1499 or equivalent international specification in good order and condition.

 

7.4        Yachts shall use no more than 2 sets of sails and 2 sets of spars during the Regatta, Sails shall have been previously measured by a Class Measurer.

 

8.0               RACING AREA

Racing will be conducted on the Pacific Ocean in the area to the north of Muttonbird Island. In the event of adverse wind or sea conditions a series of sprint races may be conducted within the main harbour.

 

 

9.0               SAILING INSTRUCTIONS

            The Sailing Instructions will be available from 0900 hours Saturday 27 October 2006 from Coffs Harbour Yacht Club.

 

 

10.0            COURSES

Intended courses shall be Windward Return, Triangle, Windward Return finishing at the bottom mark as described in the Sailing Instructions.

 

11.0            Scoring

The Low Point scoring system will apply.

 

If 6 races are completed the best 5 races are to count.

If 5 races are completed the best 4 races are to count.

If 4 races are completed the best 3 races are to count.

If 3 or less races are completed all races are to count.

 

12.0            Regatta Site

The regatta site and rigging area shall be Coffs Harbour Yacht Club, Marina Drive, Coffs Harbour Jetty  2450

 

 

13.0            Radio Communications

A boat shall neither make radio transmissions while racing nor receive radio communications not available to all boats.

 

 

14.0            Prizes

Prizes will be awarded to yachts placed first to third on scratch. Participation and encouragement awards may also be awarded. The Presentation will take place on the lawns of Coffs Harbour Yacht Club as soon as practicable after the completion of the last race.

We enclose the entry fee and agree to abide by the rules and regulations of the ISAF Racing Rules of Sailing 2005-2008 and the prescriptions of the Sailing Instructions and the Rules and Regulations of the International 505 Class.  In making this declaration we are fully aware that sailing is an inherently dangerous sport and that we participate at our own risk.  We acknowledge that no responsibility for our safety is borne by the Coffs Harbour Yacht Club or its members or directors, Fleets 8 and 11 of the Australian International 505 Class Association or its members or office bearers, or any sponsors or related parties to the event.  We accept full responsibility for our own actions in participating in these championships and for any injury, damages or liabilities that may arise from such. We acknowledge that Rule 4 - Decision to race, places the sole responsibility for deciding to participate in a race or to continue racing as our responsibility alone.
